Meet THE OOGERS

Mike

Owning a small business and raising a young family doesn’t leave anyone a lot of free time, let alone time to pursue one’s passions. Despite how hectic his life is, Mike makes sure to enjoy his personal passion – bodybuilding – everyday. Bill

Sailing

It started as a dream. In his time away from work, Bill learned in’s and out’s of sailing. The desire to chase his passion paid off when he captained his 40 foot ketch across the Atlantic in 27 days.It started as a dream. In his time away from work, Bill learned in’s and out’s of sailing. Curtis Tolson

Biker

Curtis is one of those lucky individuals whose day job is his passion! He found his passion as a way to cross train for speed skating and quickly realized that he enjoyed it more. It was the freedom of training outside and being able to go anywhere he wanted under his own power.

Rolando Haddad

Rolando Haddad is a successful sales manager for a construction equipment company who somehow finds the time and energy to teach and train people in the art of Krav Maga. Rolando’s passion led him to become the owner and an instructor at CORE COMBAT SPORTS. After his day job, he shares his passion in Krav Maga by training others, including local and state police departments. His passion has also led Rolando to several significant achievements, such as placing 2nd in the 1996 Kentucky State Games black belt heavy weight division; winner of the 1996 Shobukan (full contact Karate) Invitational tournament; winner of the 2006 main event at the Mixed Combat Challenge and winner of the NAGA masters advance heavyweight division in 2007. It is amazing to witness an individual who, in additional to being successful at his day job, leverages his passion to start a business that focuses on sharing this passion with others. Congratulations Rolando, for showing us what it means to pursue that passion and live your life.

Tracy Tolson

Pursuing one’s passion does not always come easily. In 2000, after years of long distance running, Tracy was told to quit running altogether or have a hip replacement. Not to be deterred, Tracy found a new passion that was easier on her hip – cycling. In 2003 she was dealt with another curveball and found herself divorced and raising her two daughters by herself. In order to keep her passion alive, Tracy had to find the time (often getting up at 4:30am) between the responsibilities of raising two children and a fulltime job. If that weren’t enough, Tracy had a biking accident in 2004, which left her with a shattered hip and broken pelvis. She had to finally get her hip replaced. Many of us would have hung the bike up at that point, but not Tracy. She was determined not to let this prevent her from biking and she went on to win 8 national titles over the next three years (3 track titles and 5 road titles) – her first titles ever! Tracy couldn’t imagine life without cycling. She is now remarried and considers herself lucky to have her husband and children as her biggest supporters. Congratulations Tracy for grabbing hold of your life and living your passion!

Cheryl and Stacey

Both good friends and motivated by different reasons, Cheryl and Stacey found their passion in Yoga. For Cheryl, the results of pursing her passion leaves her feeling invigorated, peaceful and powerful from the inside out. Stacey uses yoga as a blueprint for living; compassion, flexibility, contentment and balance – qualities that she uses on and off the mat. Stacey has since taken this to a new level by becoming a Yoga instructor and now spreads her passion to others. Cheryl and Stacey show us that a passion doesn’t need to be pursued individually but can be pursued with the help of friend. Way to go to the both of them for making it happen!
